Snowshoeing at Sarett
The third grade will be going to Sarett Nature Center this Tuesday morning to experience some snowshoeing!  This was a gift left to us from the tribes that were in Michigan long ago.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather:  boots, snowpants, hat, gloves/mittens, and a warm coat. If we don’t have any snow on Tuesday, we will still go to Sarett and explore the trails instead of snow shoe. Parents are welcome to join us, but you must drive separately and meet us there at 9:20am. Let us know if you have questions! 

Valentine’s Day Party
Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to help with our Valentine’s Day party!  The kids had a lot of fun playing the games, decorating the craft and eating all the sweet treats.

March Conferences
The end of second trimester is Friday, February 28th.  March conferences are formatted similar to last year, on an as needed basis. To ensure you have the most up-to-date information about your child’s progress, report cards will come home the week of March 2nd.  I will send home a note this week regarding conference times.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Calling All Mystery Readers!
I still have several open dates and would like to invite any parents, older siblings, grandparents, relatives, or other special people to surprise your child by being a "Mystery Reader" in our classroom.  Students LOVE having their family, friends, and relatives visit our classroom to share in our learning by reading a favorite story aloud to our class.  Mystery Readers will usually visit us on Fridays at time that works best for our schedules. There are a few other days that are not Fridays because of our schedule. Readers are asked to bring a book or two to read, or I would be glad to provide books from our classroom library. Please email me with a day that might work for you.  Here is what I have open:

  3rd Grade News  Week 29 April 11th - April 15th Monday, April 11th - Library/Media Center **BRING LIBRARY BOOKS!** Tuesday, April 12th - Art Wednesday, April 13th - LATE START Thursday, April 14th - Gym Friday, April 15th - Music Important Dates Late Starts - April 20th, April 27th No School - May 2nd   Spring Weather As temperatures begin to warm up, please remind your child that they will need a coat for recess if the temperature has not reached 60 degrees.  If they are playing and get warm, they are asked to tie their coat around their waist.   Testing Season We are approaching the testing season after break. We will be taking two different tests, the MSTEP and the NWEA. Our testing will take place in the morning on the following dates. Please try to avoid scheduling any appointments during these times. Please check in with your child to see how many slices they have earned and continue to have them practice at home.  IXL F Skill builders are a great way to practice.
