Lincoln School Talent Show
Permission slips are now available for the 2020 Lincoln Talent Show. If your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader
and would like to be in the show, please pick up a form in the office and have it returned by
December 20th. We are looking for singers, dancers, musicians, comedians, athletes, poets, artists,
and more. Tryouts will be in January, so use this time to get together with friends and practice,
practice, practice.
Overdue Books
Overdue library book notices were sent home on Friday from Mrs. Gruchot. If your child has a notice
for an overdue book, please take time this week and during the upcoming break to look for overdue
or lost books. Thank you!
Ice Skating with Buddies
Thanks to our PTO and the City of St. Joseph, our Lincoln School K-5 students will be able to ice
skate for free at the Howard Ice Arena on Tuesday, December 17. Our class will walk with our
buddies in Mrs. Bartz class to and from the ice rink. We will skate from 2:00-2:30. The ice-skating
and skate rental is FREE for our students and any parents that can come and help. The more adults
we can have helping students with skates, the better! The number of skates per size is limited. If
your child has their own skates, label with their name and allow them to bring them that day. Skates
brought to and/or from school on the bus must be in a duffle bag or a brown paper bag. Safety/protective helmets are also encouraged & welcomed.
Holiday Concert and Movie
On Friday morning, December 20th, we will be going to St. Joseph High School for the Annual
Holiday Concert. This is an amazing opportunity to hear our high school band, choir, and orchestra
students perform. We will return to school before lunch. In the afternoon our class will enjoy holiday
treats and a movie together.
Tardiness
As someone who has to put forward quite a bit of effort to be on time I understand how difficult it can be. That being said, I have a HUGE concern with how many students are tardy each day. I start
the day promptly at 8:35 so if your child comes in after that time, they are already starting their day
behind. Research conducted by the US Department of Education on truancy shows that students
"who are frequently tardy have lower grades, scores on standardized assessments, and graduation
rates. Chronic tardiness in elementary and middle school is associated with failure in high school."
PLEASE consider what being late is doing to your child's start of the day and the start of his or her
education. Thank you for your consideration.
Have a wonderful Winter Break!
