Welcome Back!
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break. I enjoyed spending time with my
family and had a fun time with my children. Even though I enjoyed having time off, I'm ready and
excited to get back to school. The end of the second trimester is February 28th. Your child should
continue reading nightly as part of their homework. Like any other skill, reading proficiency comes
from practice and encouragement. Thank you for encouraging your child to read nightly! Also,
please make sure your child spends time during the week practicing his/her multiplication facts.
Extra practice at home will help build his/her math skills and confidence! The end of the second
trimester means the year is more than halfway over! I look forward to continuing to watch your child
learn and grow.
Multiplication Facts
This week we will be starting a fun incentive to learn our multiplication facts. Students will be
working to earn a pizza party. For each multiplication level they pass, students will add another piece
to make a whole pizza. Please have your child begin working on their facts at home too. Learning
their multiplication facts will be key to their success in math. We are working on finding the area of
shapes in math right now, by multiplying two sides. If they know their facts, it makes
learning this concept easier.

This 8 week program is very similar to Girls on the Run, but it is just for boys! This program will also

be strong citizens of our community, while also learning how to run a 5k. The boys and girls WILL
NOT run together, and they will also have seperate races. We are excited to bring this program to
Lincoln this year! We are looking for coaches as well, please sign up
